About Santiago Nariño

Santiago Nariño is a multifaceted professional known for his roles as a community organizer, equity-centered social innovator, change manager, and photographer. Currently, he works full time for the Hospital system Albert Einstein in São Paulo, Brazil, leading the social innovation and health equity work. He also operates his consulting business specializing in change management, culture, diversity, equity, and inclusion for organizations, political candidates, and movements across the Americas.

In his capacity as a community organizer, Santiago has spearheaded numerous community-centered initiatives, notably transforming the approaches of both the College Democrats of Massachusetts and his own Latinx Action Group. His organizing methodology is deeply intersectional, aimed at dismantling institutional racism while fostering knowledge-sharing across traditionally exclusionary institutions, particularly for Latinx and students of color. Santiago thrives on fostering local leadership and fostering connections within the global south across various sectors including community, philanthropy, and the private sector, with a focus on improving outcomes in health and wellbeing for communities.

For the first five years of his career, Santiago garnered extensive experience working on diverse campaigns, ranging from university multimedia advocacy efforts to supporting the election campaigns of local, state, and federal politicians. As a concept visualizer and event planner, Santiago orchestrated multi-generational movements, events, and conferences throughout Massachusetts and the United States.

His expertise extends to workshop and conference design, multimedia creation, logistical management, volunteer coordination, and incorporating cultural and intersectional perspectives into event programming. Notable campaigns he has led include No Nos Vamos a Callar, Santiago Narino Campaign for DNC, Orange the World Campaign, Divest NU Campaign, and The Girl Effect Campaign.

Now, Santiago focuses on the intersection of movements with a strong emphasis on social innovation. With seven years of experience as a project manager at the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, where he worked on large-scale improvement projects in health and healthcare, Santiago now leads health equity and diversity, equity, and inclusion programs for patients and communities at Einstein, recognized as the best hospital in Latin America, gathering local, international and community stakeholders towards social innovation for most vulnerable populations.

Through an intersectional and artistic lens, as a photographer, Santiago's eleven years of experience have informed his work in community organizing and event planning. With a meticulous eye for composition and spatial dynamics, he has conducted over 200 portrait sessions and captured numerous events and weddings across Massachusetts. In recent years, Santiago has expanded his artistic vision to incorporate social justice and intersectional concepts, using photography as a tool to shape and redefine narratives.
